How many of you actively use the Closed-Caption feature or the available subtitling on DVD and television? There are several major studies that demonstrate that subtitling in media can significantly impact the literacy rates of an entire nation. And there are significant resources available on the web for working with subtitled text. There are transcripts for every movie -- http://www.awesomefilm.com/script/narnia.html and librettos for every musical -- http://www.musicorld.com/libretto/beautynbeast/libretto1.html http://web.archive.org/web/20070827213400/libretto.musicals.ru/text.php?... and lyrics to just about any song -- http://www.schoolhouserock.tv/Noun.html http://phineasandferb.wikia.com/wiki/Evil_Love and there is a great tool for adding subtitling and audio to PowerPoint - or for adding subtitling and PPT to video -- Karafun -- and it is Free! Take a look at these student made projects: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eem6EApCQlk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPU9oV4PhFA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyRNmJ746ic and these are just barely begginner level students.
