A Digital Literacy Opportunity for Edutopia's Teachers
I'm Heather WG, one of the bloggers here at Edutopia. I recently wrote an article for Edutopia, an interview with Nina Zolt, the founder of ePals and In2Books. As a result of all my bragging about the teachers in this community, she's asked that I pass on an invite to all interested Edutopia members, particularly those in certain community groups.
Please see the invite below and feel free to reach out to the number included for any questions you might have. I plan to be an eMentor this year, perhaps I'll get a student in your class. Who knows?
A Special Invitation to Edutopia Members
Join some of the nation’s top classroom teachers in offering your students the innovative In2Books literacy program. Through a special grant, the first 25 classrooms accepted into In2Books from the Edutopia community will get this school year FREE (an up to $175 per student value).
What is In2Books?
For 11 years, In2Books has been motivating students in grades 3-5 and raising standardized test scores. Students build reading and writing skills aligned with the Common Core ELA standards through digital correspondence with adult eMentors about books they both read.
Every In2Books student receives five self-selected books, in science, social studies, biography, traditional tales, and fiction. Students also have 24/7 access to a personalized website filled with learning resources.
Every teacher receives a personalized online learning environment that houses their customized In2Books curriculum, program management tools, and a wealth of resources. In addition, all In2Books teachers become members of the virtual Teachers Lounge community where In2Books teachers nationwide collaborate and participate in cutting-edge professional development co-presented by In2Books and the International Reading Association.
Every eMentor is a carefully screened adult volunteer trained by In2Books to build student literacy through asking questions, modeling strong writing skills, and providing personal academic encouragement
