So, I'm wondering, do you think that technology has truly made a difference in the quality of teaching and learning within the core subject areas? How often do non-technology teachers really use technology in their classrooms to benefit learning? In what ways do they do this? I'm feeling pessimistic and I hope that I'm wrong.

Although your Xtranormal movies are quite appealing, I found when I explored the site that they are in the process of implementing what seems to be an incredibly unwieldy payment system of "virtual cash." The forum is full of terribly frustrated customers who were in the middle of crating movies for free when their accounts froze. Just a heads-up....

Does anyone use tweet chat or tweetizen for real time chatting in the classroom or for professional development?

I am a teacher in Phila. Pa. I currently teach world history. The biggest problem with technology in the classroom is when and where to use it. Everyone assumes technology means using computers but technology can be any new idea with sometype if new implementation. I would like to thiis year my world history with making a year book of the daily and weekly activities. It should be a new experience. I'm hoping to start to build community in my classroom because of the idea of staying together. If students stay together they think about graduating. Once they finish something they will begin to start setting goals to finish more thing.

It seems that schools (including colleges) get grants or other funds to buy technology but not enough thought is given to training the teachers to make effective use of those technologies. Most schools could use full time trainers. They may hire various types of techs to manage the servers and network and repair the computers, but they rarely high full-time trainers. Without proper training and support, I don't believe that most teachers will make effective use of new learning technologies.

I agree, I am putting together a workshop to invite teachers near me to get some training.

I use technology for every lesson (Spanish) and my students love it. They find my lessons engaging, fun and interesting. I embed film and sound and they appreciate very much the way i introduce the material. I have the entire Spanish 1 in PowerPoint.

Furthermore, technology has made my life much easier for me as I carry all the information in my computer. if I need to improvise or change my lessons, no problem I got them all.
