It is a little counter intuitive that a program called Geometers Sketchpad would be good for Algebra, but it is phenomenal. It seems most topics in algebra are amenable to sketchpad. Sketchpad is a reasonable authoring environment (even for creating tests and worksheets) and you can put up files on a server and students can download them and work through explorations, moving on once they get an intuitive feel and some problem solving acumen. With a smartboard like display you can combine interactive projected stuff with hand annotated.

Let me know if you head in this direction. Somewhere I have saved a bunch of Algebra 1 files.

I teach Economics, both Micro-based and Macro/National, as well as Civics. I am in a 900-person HS in a fairly rural area (7500). This year we are getting smart boards and BlackBoard. Where are there some good sites to see examples in these two subject areas??????

I am Jocelyne. I am french and I work in Mexico as French teacher in High School and College. I am very lucky because my institution is one of the best in Innovative Education and I have a lot of possibilities to take courses to develop my knowledge. We use Blackboard 9.1 and I already designed 4 level courses. I'm a podcast instructor and Blackboard facilitator. But most of what I actually know comes from sites like Edutopia where we can share experiences. I am working to use the most efficiently I can the tools we have, and I'd like to create a complete online course.

As an Alternative Certified Teacher (4th year) I realize that with my kids motivation is one of the biggest challenges. I know that they have responded well to the technology I have incorporated - activboard, activotes, flipcharts etc- but I also know that there is so much more I could do. I'm a little intimidated but much more motivated to learn.

I am a vice principal of a suburban high school. We are now working with a full time staff member whose title is Technology Integration Specialist and I want to be as informed as possible so that I can best support him and the rest of our faculty in using technology optimally.

I'm a history teacher in California. I have a smart board and have been trying to integrate this technology for three years. This year, one of my EL classes will get i-pads so I'm looking for ideas to help make my students successful.

My name is Tom Bailey and I will be teaching all sophomores at North Side High School in Fort Wayne Indiana next year. I have a body of work teaching AP Lit, Lang, English 12, and other classes but Elmhurst High School where I worked last year was closed.
Some of my and my students' work can be found here:

I'd like to use more discussion boards and online activities this year...this is very exciting to be able to get immediate help and ideas! Dee Thompson, 9-13 English

I am interested in creating an exciting classroom that integrates technology every day, but I also want a balance with reading books in English class as well. I teach 9-13 classes both face to face and w/polycom.
