Reading

2 Replies 745 Views
I'm new here and I love this. I just thought I'd pass along an idea I found for reading. It's the Edmark reading program. It has been wonderful in my class. It uses sign language to teach reading and my kids have been very successful with it. I have used other reading programs in the past that use symbols or marks to indicated different phoenetic sounds. This doesn't teach reading through phoenetics and is easily transferred to books from the library. Hope this helps someone.

I was a sign language interpreter in the past and when I started teaching reading to a K-2 class I incorporated sign into several of the alphabet and a program I used called soundabet, it was very sucessful for me, I was able to exit 4 of the 12 students to RSP from SDC in one year. I was so proud of them.
