Help with Cover Letter
I am currently on a break from teaching, as I am 7 months pregnant. I had to resign from my position at a middle/high charter school for children with Autism back in January, due to the stress and physical requirements of the job. Unfortunately, I had not been teaching long enough at the school to take a leave of absence. Also, I am due in August, so I cannot start at the beginning of a school year. It will probably be October before I can take a teaching job.
All that said, when I do go back, I would like to teach general education (preferably Kindergarten). I recently received my certification for El. Ed. and after only 2 years in special ed, I must say, I am burnt out! I want to try general ed, but feel like I will be pigeon holed because all I have taught thus far is special ed.
My main concern is writing a cover letter. How do I explain why am I switching? How do I get a principal to take me seriously and consider me for a general education position? How do I make myself stand out from the rest?
