An invitation for my Social Studies Colleagues to join Learning Forward's Teacher Leader Community (P.S. invite your colleagues, too!)
I am inviting you to join a brand new online learning community designed by teachers for teachers. It’s the Teacher Leader Community at http://www.learningforward.org/elearning/communities/index.cfm.
Last spring, I joined the advisory board to help design the Teacher Leader Community. We were charged with creating an on-line community that would provide teachers with what we need. The vision of the Teacher Leader Community was based on surveys, interviews, and conversations with teachers across the country. Our goal is to network with colleagues nationwide; have ongoing focused and open discussions; share expert content and best practices; provide mentoring and coaching, and courses and programs; and form action research and study teams.
We are eager for you to join us. We have started book discussions; are providing support for educators to take an “inquiry stance” on their professional practice; talking about how to make data a part your school's culture; figuring out how to sustain and deepen the conversation on closing the achievement gap; offering tools—including video—and strategies for teaching ELLs, the gifted, and engaging parents; making the most of using social media and digital technology in the classroom—and more.
Please help us get the word out about the Teacher Leader Community by forwarding this email to your colleagues and networks. Look forward to “seeing” you at http://www.learningforward.org/elearning/communities/index.cfm.
