English Civil War

I'm doing my student teaching and will be presenting my first self-designed unit pretty soon. I've got to cover the period of US History between colonization and the French and Indian War. I wanted to spend a day talking about the English Civil War and how it embodied the beginning of a shift of power away from monarchy and towards representative democracy.

I was planning a PowerPoint presentation with note-taking, but of course I'd like to make it more engaging. Any ideas for activities?
