What is the value or benefit of student competitions for the student (elem, middle and high)? Specifically competitions such as Destination Imagination, Odyssey of the Mind, Future Problem Solving, FIRST Robotics, etc. 1. Do you see a value or positive impact on student participants? Does participation in these competitions teach student valuable life skills (teamwork, problem solving, project management, presentation skills, cooperation, etc.) not taught in many classrooms? 2. Is there published educational research that shows that student competitions (such as the ones above) provide measureable benefits to students?
