Put your STEM Event on the National Map! Are you organizing a Science Festival or other STEM event in the next 12 months? Then add it to our online Directory and Map! This year, we are listing both Affiliate Festivals (STEM events taking place any time of the year) as well as Satellite Events (taking place during April 2012 to coincide with the 2nd USA Science & Engineering Festival in Washington DC). Our map currently includes events in the continental United States, Hawaii, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland and Australia. Many of these events take place in the coming months, including Children's Environmental Science Day at Incline Village in Nevada, which is organized by UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center; Four Days of Hands-On Science Fun! in Sedalia, Missouri, organized by Missouri State Fair, SCOPE, and Missouri 4-H; and GENIALE- get smart! in Bielefeld, Germany. If the thought of organizing an event in your area in April 2012 hadn't crossed your mind, now is the time to think about it: in an effort to make the 2nd USA Science & Engineering Festival a truly national experience, we are encouraging schools, colleges, girl scout troops, museums, companies and others to host STEM events in their community. Events can be as big or as small as you want them to be: consider a science scavenger hunt, a lecture, a brown-bag lunch with a scientist, or an all-day event with lots of hands-on activities. Then add it to our national map. Whether you are a student club, school, university, community organization or company, why not put on your own celebration of science the same month that thousands of people celebrate science in Washington, D.C.? Our goal is to have hundreds of Satellite Events throughout the country, anchored to the USA Science & Engineering Festival Expo in Washington, D.C., in April 2012. You can make it as small or as big as you want. It can be a single activity put on by your student club, a small celebration at your school or company, a larger event that involves organizations from your community, or a full fledged Festival modeled after the USA Science & Engineering Festival. You create it, and we help you market it by including your information in our online Satellite Event Directory and Map. That way, anyone in the nation can check our website to see what’s happening in their backyard the month of the USA Science & Engineering Festival. It’s a great way to get your community excited about science, and to literally put your organization on the national map. Adding your event to the directory and map is an easy, two-step process: 1. Fill out the brief online form below to let us know about your event. 2. If approved, we will provide you with a link to add your detailed event information to the directory and map. While Satellite Events take place during the month of April 2012 and are typically smaller in nature, Affiliate Festivals are one-day or multi-day science festivals with a regional emphasis.
