National Lab Day is more than just a day - it's a movement. NLD is bringing hands-on, exciting, and experiment-based learning to kids all over the country. NLD is in response to President Obama's “Educate to Innovate” campaign, a nationwide effort to help reach the Administration’s goal of making American students competitive in science and math over the next decade. National Lab Day is the ultimate educational matchmaker. Teachers and educators can post a project on our website to request scientists, volunteers or even financial support (through Donorschoose.org). While National Lab Day had its official kickoff day last month (May 12th) , NLD is an ongoing five-year initiative. Join us! Nationallabday.org

We participated in NLD 2010 and it was wonderful. I had a local protein biochemist come and work with the 6th graders on a stream bacteria study; she came to the classroom one day to set up the experiment and then joined us in the creek for our big field day.

Also, as a scientist, I went to a nearby underserved school for their NLD and dissected owl pellets with several class, bringing my own supplies. It was great to be on the giving and receiving ends of NLD and I look forward to doing more next year.

We're very glad you enjoyed National Lab Day! Remember, NLD isn't just a once-a-year program. You can post a project on NLD anytime you want, and we'll find you a match in no time.
Thanks for your support!
