Broad scope of position:
Teaches 14 7/8 grade students in a multi-age, multi-subject class in Salida, Colorado.
Works closely and collaboratively with the 5/6th grade teacher.
Occasionally works flexible school hours.
Teaches Physical Education class one hour per week (classes are recreation/health related-cycling, hiking, swimming, disk golf, skiing, etc.).
Covers recess/snack time every other week for 30 minutes per day..
Runs own copies with the help of a student assistant.
Drives a 14 passenger van with students to various activities.
Performs other appropriate duties in support of running a successful classroom and school.

Preferred experience/knowledge/ability:
Has a Colorado teaching certificate
Has training or experience in “Project Based Education” and or “Place Based Education”.
Is familiar with Colorado State Standards.
Has the ability to work with and create a positive rapport with students, parents and the community.
Has the ability to work with all levels of students in a heterogeneous classroom setting.
Has experience using technology to support instruction. Including experience (or the willingness to learn) SMARTBOARD technology .
Has experience (or the willingness to be trained) in “Colorado River Watch- water quality sampling”.
Knows and is willing to teach beginning Spanish.
