They are music and art teachers, and they have found higher achievement, higher order thinking, self-directed learning, more productive habits of mind, fewer discipline problems, and enhanced creativity. I recently retired from my position as the Fine Arts Consultant at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction but am still involved with these groups. The instructional/assessment strategies they have developed are applicable to all disciplines.
