Since 2001 I have been
Since 2001 I have been directing two action research groups that involve students more actively in their own learning, using project based learning. They are music and art teachers, and they have found higher achievement, higher order thinking, self-directed learning, more productive habits of mind, fewer discipline problems, and enhanced creativity. I recently retired from my position as the Fine Arts Consultant at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction but am still involved with these groups. The instructional/assessment strategies they have developed are applicable to all disciplines.
