Keeping up with it all

Donelle O'Brien dobrien917

Nings, Edutopia, Google Reader, Twitter, and Blogs are strong contributors to my PLN. When the school year begins, it seems like it takes me a few months before I can begin to breathe. How do you manage it all? What tools do you use to aggregate information? How do you balance time in the networks with all of the demands of a busy life?

Hey, Donelle! I, too, utilize internet resources. I find that jumping on a few minutes a day helps me keep a balance. I have a few staples that I check every day - of course Edutopia is one! I check them out, scan to see if anything catches my eye, and if so, stay for a little while. I usually give myself about 15-30 minutes/day. This allows me to see if there's anything interesting out there but keeps me moving so I can do all the other things I need to do.

When I have more time - weekends, sleepless nights, nothing on TV, etc. - I'll spend more, in depth time.

Thanks for the comment. I agree. In fact, I wrote four blog posts about this very topic this week. (http://lifelonglearning20.edublogs.org)

I feel the need to update my previous comment - my family now thinks I'm addicted to the internet! They say I'm on "all the time" and do nothing else. Of course, they are exaggerating a bit but I am on more than the 15-30 minutes I mentioned in my earlier post!
