Hello all, I am a new member to the group and a commercial publisher of apps for the iPod Touch - e Skills Learning (www.eskillslearning.net). Our apps encourage practice and mastery in specific content skills using a bingo-like game format. I am interested in starting a new discussion or group here on edutopia to encourage dialogue on how others are using the iPod Touch in the classroom. Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Welcome to the Online Learning Group.

At my school we recently completed a trial run with a class set of iPod Touches in Year 7 Maths classes. In a similar way to that which you mentioned above, we used the devices to boost engagement and help students attain mastery over basic mathematical skills and concepts.

There were a range of (mostly) free apps that were excellent for this kind of learning, including things like Math City and Fraction Finder.

I wrote a paper on it - DM me if you would like to read it.

Keith.

In my class, The ITRT showedmy students how to use story kit on the iPods.
From story kit my kids have made many sol facts books that are emailed to me. Then I can dispaly their work on the iPods onto the smartboard. then they can read what tey did with the class to reinforce the sols.

Hey Jewell,
I'd be interested in getting students to create books using the iPods. Is the story kit somekind of app? and what are 'sols'? Sorry, I haven't heard that term before.

Keith.
