How might a new teacher prioritize all of this? If I could go back 20 years to when I was a new teacher, I would say relationships are first....tuning into who students are and what their needs and interests are. Other ideas? Sign in to vote! I did the webinar presentation for the ASCD Summer Boot Camp Series in June with that idea in mind of course. (Link to my webinar presentation http://www.ascd.org/professional-development/webinars/lisa-dabbs-webinar...) I do have to agree with you! My key points were focused on building relationships and developing good communication skills. Doing that with your colleagues and developing that with the students and families that you serve. That must come first, along with having a mentor to guide them and insure that they do self reflection on-going. Then they can begin to take a few tools at a time and engage with them for support in their work. Here is the collaborative G-doc link, I created to be used after viewing the webinar https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fajjB82w7XAUQWPSsuB5zA5HPYAWs9-h4bWV... Would love to get your feedback if you use the webinar materials! Thanks! Sign in to vote!
