Using colors or numbers to separate academically placed sp ed students.

Mary teacher/ dept chairperson sp ed WBJHS

I dont know about you but placing a group of special education middle school students on a grade specific colored team different from the gen ed population colors is discrimination and labeling to me. If every gen ed students are heterogeneously placed and known by by their team color, then my son will soon figure out that his orange team consisting of only 15 - 20 students is the sp ed team, not the white red or blue team. There is an easy fix to this and just attach these students to another colored team, but my middle school isnt being receptive to this idea that paremts and sp ed teachers have been complaining about for years. I want it stopped and i need them to listen. Any ideas??
