Teaching middle school is not for the faint of heart. But if you're called to do it, you know there's nothing else quite like it. Join us in discussing what works - and what doesn't.

The Perfect Middle School Teacher Prep Program Has....

OK, so somewhere in the Bullying in Middle School discussion thread, we began brainstorming what to do about training parents in anti-bullying and character education. So then I mentioned that Character Education should be a class in every teacher prep program. And, VIOLA, here we have this discussion thread!

So let's hear it. If you could design the courses for the perfect middle school teacher prep program, what would they be? You can just list them in bullets or add some explanations, but ether way, we could actually do some real good here, lending our expertise to readers out there. I'll start...

Character Education and Bullying in a Middle School
Tween Brain Development
The History of Teaching (studying the strategies of great teachers throughout history, both here and afar)

The list, of course, can go on, but I want to hear what you all have to say. We all know student teachers need more time in an actual classroom, but how do we make the coursework in the actual prep program valuable? So, put on your thinking caps. I know you've probably mulled this over before.

Your turn...
