Good day Edutopia Middle School teachers. I have always aspired to teach. As such, I decided to start a master's program in education this summer to help me transition from scientist to middle school science teacher. I intend on going back to my home state (Michigan) to teach in a high-need school (e.g. Detroit) upon my husband's completion of his degree program. I want to make a difference and share what I love. I keep hearing that 50% of teachers quit within their first five years, and that terrifies me. I would like to know what I can do NOW to best serve my future students. Would you be willing to advise me on how I could connect with a mentor currently in a high-need school, or point me to any mentoring resources available for teachers in training? Thank you for your assistance! Shannon
