A colleague, Mary-Kay Goindi, offered this gem of program via twitter (@MaryKayG):

"It's been my experience that simple ideas are the ones that tend to have a lasting impact. A 'boomerang lunch' means that everything that comes to school and is not eaten goes home at the end of each day. Boomerang lunches let parents know what's not being eaten and also makes the excessive packaging of lunch/snack purchases obvious."
