Help a Freelance Writer?
I'm a freelance writer working under contract with a leading scholastic publisher on a project that emphasizes reading and writing informational texts (grades K-5). The unit I'm working on at the moment is How to Change or Amend a School Rule. One of the components to the unit will feature 3-4 nonfiction narratives of students (or groups of students) who have successfully changed or amended a school rule. Obviously, because we're talking about such young students, the changes can be pretty simple (i.e. adding ketchup to the lunchroom, how many books a student can check out from the library at one time, etc.). I'm wondering if anyone has done a project like this in your classroom. If so, I would love to talk to you. (It can even be an example of older students as long as the subject matter would appeal to the younger ones.)
Thanks so much!
