Alternative Transportation - Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

At our school, the car line takes about 30 minutes every afternoon. We are a magnet school, so students come to our campus from all over our county. Some students ride as long as 45 minutes to an hour on the bus each way.

We are making a concerted effort to encourage parents to participate in a carpool (or bikepool or walking pool). We are lucky to have a local resource, the South Florida Commuter Services' School Pool that will provide the database and communications to help parents connect and form carpool groups.

Also, we recently found an organization called America Walks. Their website provides valuable information about national initiatives to provide SAFE walking routes to schools.
