Every month my school pulls together a "Community Sing" where we all assemble (pre-K through 8th) for performances by various classes on our amphitheater.

Following next week's sing, my students are organizing and hosting a "Celebrate Haitian Culture" fair for students and teachers alike. They will prepare and sell traditional Haitian foods, play Konpa music, hand out information packets about Haiti's cultural heritage, and prepare a list of ways and means that people can help aid recovery.

They've even been kicking around the idea of pulling together a 5 minute play on Haiti's rich history.

All procedes will go to one of the many organizations doing good work down there. Today a nurse from Doctors Without Borders spoke with the students, so they'll probably be jazzed to donate to them.
