I am having difficulty keeping my fifth graders engaged while I meet with guided reading groups. I have literacy centers which work wonderfully and connect with instruction, but only one group of 8 students visits these centers at a time. I am looking for meaningful and engaging independent seat work. What has worked for everyone else and how do you manage it?
