Mona McNee is 90 years old. Yes, 90. But she still gets up every day ready to go out and fight for intelligent reading instruction, ready to tell the whole world why schools have to use phonics or children will grow up semi-literate.
She is a real crusader, still feisty, indeed enraged. She is disgusted with the UK government (which is much like the Education Establishment here) for adopting methods that decades of experience show to be inferior.
