I am a first year teacher. I taught the second semester of the last school year as an interim teacher. I teach in a low income, high poverty area. Last year it was next to impossible to contact the majority of my students parents. I tried calling, notes home, conferences. Nothing was getting through. I ended last year with never talking to a few of the parents. I do not want this year to have the same lack of communication. Is there anything I can do to change this?

Hi Laurenlea,

We have an article called How to Strengthen Parent Involvement and Communication which lists lots of resources. We also have a 2011 guide called Home-to-School Connections Guide. Please let me know if I can be of any other help. =)
