Spanking; Should it be allowed in public schools?
Many schools in the U.S. still allow spanking as a choice for the replacement of in school suspension or detention. I have heard about spanking stories, and many students (mostly high school students) were spanked and unable to stand straight for a few hours. One girl even had to go to the hospital and get stitches.
I think spanking promotes abuse, and tells students, it's all right to be hit as disciplinary action, that if one experiences spanks at home, it's a good thing. However, abuse has long been looked down upon and regarded as illegal in some way. The disadvantage of abuse is that only marks on the body, physically shown can be showing abuse. In a way, schools are mentally and physically abusing students by permitting spanking.
