Soon to be hunting through the teacher job market(nervous)

Brandi

Ok. I may be further away from having to hunt for a job than I think but I'm nervous. I'm a few credits away from being a junior in college (Woohoo!!). People tell me different things about interviews and endorsement and I'm so confused about what I should be working towards. What should I do? What endorsements should I get?

It depends on the state you live in. With my degree, I graduated with an ESOL endorsement and a reading endorsement. The ESOL endorsement is becoming more valuable here, seeing as we have a lot of ELL students enrolling in our schools. A lot of districts have moved to require the teachers to work towards receiving the endorsement, or requiring them to do continued learning, completing a certain amount of hours a year (for example, 300). Check with your state, and even call around to the hiring portion of the school districts you may want to work in and ask them what endorsements would be beneficial for you.
