Techreation -- teaching active living through digital media creation

Roni

Hi. I work with youth technology programs at the YMCA of Greater Seattle. We believe in the power of digital media as a catalyst for young people to examine issues, strengthen their voice and act in their communities.

We've started packaging our digital media curriculum programs and one of our offerings
is Techreation. It was designed for educators/youth workers working with six to 11 year olds. The program is 15 hours worth of activities. Techreation can easily be modified for longer or shorter programs, and for middle school students. Activities in Techreation meet a number of National Health Education and National Technology Education Standards.

We aren't classroom teachers, and would really love some feedback on the guides from some of you. We'd be willing to send along the guides to some of you for free if you were willing to:
1. conduct a Techreation program and evaluate it at the end
2. review the guide and offer guidance

and please email me rayalla at seattleymca.org if you'd be interested in helping us out.

Thanks, all!
