Hello! I am a teacher in NYC and a cooperating teacher. I very often talk to my student teacher about the things I was never told about teaching before I started (good and not so good). I think she appreciates my candidness about the profession. I have been teaching 11 years and know I still have a lot to learn. I think it would be helpful to hear from other teachers too. Here are my questions: 1. What are the things that you would have wanted to know about before you got into the teaching profession (again, good or bad)? 2. What lessons did you learn during your 1st or subsequent years of teaching that you would want others to learn from? 3. What advice would you give a pre-service teacher about job hunting, landing your 1st job and that all important 1st year? I know that teachers don't always get a chance to talk about their experiences. Here's your chance! Thanks in advance, Shannon
