You may know there was a letter in Science Magazine about 12 years ago from a group of conservationists who showed that kids knew a lot more about Pokemon (fictional creatures) than about the animals in their backyard. They asked fellow conservationists to take heed but not much progress was made.

I read it only a short while ago, and being a game designer, I thought I might be able to change things and got to work. The resulting game will help to build a future in which humans live more in harmony with nature. The first step is always learning, and kids learn through videogames. That's what we all want right? And where our specialties can combine and add up. So this might be a good opportunity to connect with kids.
There's a short video with more information here:

Not only is there a basic videogame, there's also a companion app for phones that allows players to make progress simply by going for a stroll.

Please take a look and if you like it, any form of support or mention is greatly appreciated. Even just talking to friends and people who might be interested helps out a great deal. I'm basically trying to build a bridge between animal awareness and the millions of Pokemon fans. But I'm just one guy, and while I'll get the game made, I am really out of my element doing promotion. So any pointers would also be very welcome.
And in case you want more info or simply talk to me, my email address is: all.animalalbum@gmail.com

Kind regards,

I'm taking Project Based Learning out of the classroom.

I am a 15 year old sophomore at Central Coast New Tech High in Nipomo, CA. I am combining my passions for filmmaking and landspeed racing to make a documentary film telling the stories of the few women landspeed 200 MPH record holders and my attempt to join them this Summer.

Let's show the world girls can chase their dreams.

Founder / CEO EduViaNet.org

Greetings everyone!

My name is Amin Aleali and I'm the founder/CEO of EduViaNet.org. I'm also a father of three young children ages 5, 6 and 10. Furthermore, I'm a software engineer for more than 15 years designing workflow automation.

The reason that I'm reaching out today is because EduViaNet.org has been accepted and approved by KickStarter.com. We will be going live with them in the coming weeks. I'm NOT asking for donations. But I do want your endorsement as an educator (if you like what we do, of course) so I can include it in my marketing package for KickStarter.com. Needless to say that KickStarter.com is viewed by millions of people and your name (name only) can get some exposure alongside with us.

Tell you about us a bit, EduViaNet.org automates and streamlines homework and assignments for teachers and students. I have designed and coded a set of software tools and online services for teachers so they can teach better. For detailed explanation of what we do, please visit EduViaNet.org. There, you will find four demo videos that show how easy it is to create educational and engaging homework for your students in matter of minutes. In the demo videos, I demonstrate a few innovative features for better learning.

If you are an educator, please visit EduViaNet.org and let me know if you would like to help us to make the KickStarer.com campaign a success.

Creating delightful and educational tv

~Thank you so much Edutopia for this opportunity to share~

Our aim is to create a children's series which will inspire a love for sciences and to encourage respect and appreciation for others and the earth.
We hope to raise the funds to produce a show that will expose young children to basic scientific facts in a format that will be enthralling and appealing, to not only children but the whole family (in the same vein as MacGyver and Voyagers from the early 80's)
We hope that this will make learning accessible to those with limited access to or interest in schooling .
Please Watch the link below - it's FAB!

Though this is not my campaign specifically, I know that I for one grew up learning to love books with Reading Rainbow, so it is a cause very near and dear to my heart!

LeVar Burton has a Kickstarter to get a web-based database of the video field trips from the show (which was on until 2009! who knew!) along with thousands of children's books and teacher materials for use in the classroom and home!

Pretty neat, and I thought others might be interested in resurrecting a childhood fave for a new generation!

Technologically Rich Educational and Entertaining platform

Hi there!

So excited to share with everyone the news about ScoopyTV! ScoopyTV is now crowdfunding on Indiegogo to create the first interactive and entertaining educational platform for kids!

We have created a concept that incorporates high end technology that kids are used to with the childish humor they use in order to create a relatable, entertaining and educational character kids and parents love!

Our goal is to create a platform that will feature dozens of 3D high quality technologically oriented videos featuring Scoopy that will provide children with hours of entertainment during which they will learn valuable skills and lessons.

Scoopy TV was created out of a need to provide children with quality content and programming that speaks the technologically rich language they have been brought up in.

Please take the time to show your kids Scoopy on YouTube:

In many countries of the world, investing in education is not considered a priority. Even if it is well-known that the first years of life are fundamental for the development of people, the investment to guarantee to children the right to quality infant toddler centres and preschools is very small. Still today, people working in schools with children, especially young children, are forced to self fund its own professional development. The vision of investing in education for very young children is a benefit for every community, yet a reality for few. It is then important to create the possibility for educators, particularly when coming from disadvantaged contexts, to access to quality education. Support the campaign!
