Hello,

My Name is Joanna Treadwell, I'm asking for donations to help fund a facility so I can teach others how to cook, bake, sew and hold classes so children as young as 5 years old can learn the life skills so many people are lacking at this point in time. Having Family Time Classes: ie: preparing and cooking classes as a family quality time together. Having a mentor program for children to kids of all ages to have a safe fun place to go and learn these life skills. I see so many young kids these days not knowing what the inside of a kitchen should look like. It amazes me that so much of our community isn't taking the time to teach kids and young adults how to prepare themselves for the real world. Seeing this first hand at my children's school and the parental involvement amazes and blows me away.

My goal is to have a Country Kitchen / crafting shop/ with enough room for a self-stainable vegetable gardens so I can teach others my passion for cooking, baking, sewing. I have taught kids and children along with disabled the life skills they need to continue to grow and take pride and joy in what they can accomplish. The money for the Shop would get us up and running and after the donation goal is reached to keep the bills paid that is where the store front comes into play. The store front would be used to sell products that the store uses for the classes to teach the course and my skills of baking, decorating, and sewing would be used to sell goods to the public, and sales from the vegetable gardens would keep the store up and running.

Any amount of donation would greatly be appreciated and after the store and project is up and running being able to pay it forward is my long term goal.

If you are interested in donating or have questions about my cause please feel free to contact me anytime.

Thank you,
Joanna Treadwell

First Grade Teacher

I have a large Donors Chose project that expires on December 8 (22 days left). It is called, "Oh The Places We'll Go With iPad minis". I am from a Title I/ high poverty school, in a Chicago suburb, with very limited technology or resources. I teach first graders, and feel that many of them would benefit from the use of iPads and it's apps for learning, especially my full- time ELL students (75% of my class) and my students with special needs or struggling learners( dyslexia, cognitive, learning disability). Many also come from low income homes or are homeless, and they do not have access to technology outside of school. I am always seeking out resources for them that would support their learning and I like to do a lot of hands on learning. It is my hope that we can also use these iPad minis in the future for kid blogging, which will help them in many academic areas. Thank you for your consideration. http://www.donorschoose.org/project/oh-the-places-well-go-with-ipad-mini...
