What do teachers do that CAN'T be measured?
Inspired by the comments to today's blog about student self-esteem, I wanted to start a thread to brainstorm all the things that teachers do that can't be measured.
As Edutopia user TIC points out, "Raising the self-esteem of a students or cultivating a sense of capability are two of the many things teachers do that cannot be measured. Who can measure it? No one. It is our contribution to the building of good character."
I'm thinking we'll create a big list of all the things teachers do and circulate it all over the web to help counter the perception that merit pay even comes close to measuring teachers' impact.Would love to hear your thoughts!
