Karen Yager Dean of Studies Knox Grammar School NSW Australia

I am the Dean of Studies at Knox Grammar School in Sydney, Australia. We have been investigating through an International Action Research Project whether having our students engage in a cross-disciplinary task the involved creating a sustainable city using MineCraft would unleash their creativity and critcial thinking skills. The findings were transformative. I am very keen to visit schools in America in June this year that are focusing on developing an innovative curriculum. I am happy to share any of the resources that we have developed. My email is yagerk@knox.nsw.edu.au.

In my physical science classes I have initiated science projects that are designed to address the issue of sustainable living. Students spend the entire school year learning concepts in physical science through project-based and inquiry-driven curricula. Through the student-centered scientific investigations in the classroom and outside the school building, students solve problems and develop solutions that can be implemented and elaborated upon to improve outcomes and efficiencies.
