Why are the programs free?
The National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) is generously funded by the Freeman Foundation as a multi-year initiative to encourage and facilitate teaching and learning about East Asia in elementary and secondary schools nationwide.

NCTA is a premier provider of professional development on East Asia. Asia for Educators (AFE) receives funding from the U.S. Department of Education and from the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership for simulcast programs on Japan and East Asia.
