A revitalization of this group

David Wees Learning Specialist: Technology for Stratford Hall

What can we do to revitalize this group? We have nearly 600 members, but only a few discussion posts and very little discussion going on.

In my opinion assessment is king, as your policy on assessment can drive much of what your school does. What can we do to increase the conversation about assessment and bring more teachers into the fold.

Here we talk about formative assessment like everyone gets it and uses it appropriately, but when I hear about schools mandating that 100 items be checked off a list, to me that sounds like someone has a very poor understanding of formative assessment (I understand that the person who posted this story recognizes the flaw in this method themselves and is just reposting).

So please help this group find some ways to increase the discussion around assessment. What can we do to make more educators willing to talk about this topic?
