Sometimes it pays to just ask. During a recent #artsed Chat on Twitter, we were discussing Sir Ken Robinson's ideas on how schools kill creativity. I knew he had a Twitter account, but there weren't many postings. I had met him a few times. In fact, a couple of years ago, my organization at the time hosted Sir Ken for a conference on Creativity and Education. So, I gave it a shot. I got in touch with his agent who put me in touch with his assistant and he said, "yes." That was it. I hope you're able to join us for this week's chat. I will come back and post the topic he chooses. He has a new TED talk and is working on a book so I can't wait to hear what he's been thinking about. If you're interested in seeing what we talk about on #artsed Chat, I have created an archive of transcripts at http://www.creativityandassociates.net/artsed-chat-archive/ The lesson of this story? Just ask. The worst that can happen is that the answer is "no."

Joan - So cool that you got Sir Ken to speak!

Just want to confirm the time. Is it this Saturday 5/22? At what time?

Thanks!
Elana

sounds just wonderful. I have a CTA Meeting and will not be able to join in. Not to mention I do not even understand how to access this technology! Groan. Just tried to get onto Twitter and was rejected. So frustrating!

This topic of how schools kill creativity is just what I am interesting in learing more about. I also want to know more about Sir Ken Robinson. As you know, I have shared with you my observation that I watch our students become more and more depressed without the arts. They have no reason to come to school anymore. There is no beauty in their day.

I will download the transcripts. Thank you again!

Hi Carol -

We'll be doing a blog about this event on Friday. I'll post it to this thread so you don't miss anything. Twitter transcripts are a bit hard to get into (at least for me) -- lots of tweets flying around!

In regards to your problem signing on with Twitter, I'm happy to help you troubleshoot. Did you get rejected when you were on twitter.com creating an account? Twitter is such a great PLN tool, I'd love to help spread the use of it!
