Music for Black History Month
February is Black History Month....taking a cue from Gaetan, I'd love to hear others' recommendations for music we could play in and out of the classroom.
Here are 3 of my top-of-mind picks:
John Coltrane- A Love Supreme

Bobby McFerrin - Circle Songs (the whole album)

Aretha Franklin - How I Got Over

Music Teaching History
Great selections Betty...especially Coltrane's Love Supreme. Another Coltrane song that is most powerful is Alabama. It is filled with the heartache of what history teaches us, but you can also hear Trane holding on to a belief that human beings will rise up.
