And to make it easier for you to find free, kid-safe, online tools, check out this collaborative edtech wiki: http://edutechdatabase.wikispaces.com/It contains over 1000 tools categorized by subject, grade level, and standards!
Hi Ms. Trust!
We are going to be opening up a wiki very soon! Look forward to sharing the wiki with others. =)

Thank you Elyse! Huge fan of NWP!

Quote: The different
The different repositories of educational tools and resources always bring up some new links that we are not aware of or we have not visited recently, therefore, thanks for sharing this list.
One of the most extensive repositories of free Web 2.0 tools that I have encountered is Cool Tools for Schools, created by a lady from New Zealand who keeps updating it. It has received a recent award by Merlot and I recommend it vividly - http://cooltoolsforschools.wikispaces.com.
The wiki is structured by a classification of tools (resources have also been added more recently), and if you open the index A-Z you can have a glimpse of how long this list is in fact.
Thank you Ida! We will add this to our list of Wikis when we launch it.

Hi Lisa,
Great lists! We'll aggregate your list on our wiki when we launch.

Quote: I know everyone likes
I know everyone likes tidy lists, but a list that is only 80 items long and seeks to cover the entire edtech field needs another zero on the end. We've created an article on 101 Great Sites for Social Studiesand everyone of them is great.
Indeed, once we have created about 100 guides to the best educational resources by topic, as well as articles linking to the best educational content online for students, we realized we had more than 35,000 curated sites useful to educators and students. Thus, to make these easier to find, we created SweetSearch, a custom search engine powered by Google that only searches these 35,000 sites, and others we find on lists such as yours. So I suggest SweetSearch as one tool to add to your list.
Hi Mark,
Thanks for your submission of SweetSearch to our list of Websites recommended and/or used by Edutopia community members.

Natalie,
Thanks for your feedback! We're glad that you've found the list to be useful. Don't forget to let us know other Websites that work for you.

Hi,
Great list. I would like to also suggest you have a look at http://Enterthegroup.com, a free site for teachers to create virtual classrooms and for students to manage group work online. It's like a Facebook for education, but a safe and powerful tool.
