The Foundation Center

An independent nonprofit information clearinghouse on grants available throughout the United States with headquarters in New York, and additional libraries in Washington, DC, Atlanta, Cleveland, and San Francisco. The center offers databases, including directories of foundation and corporate grantmakers, research information and advice, custom research, and database searching. The Web site includes online training in grantseeking, proposal writing, and funding research, as well as an online librarian.

Grants.gov

Allows organizations to electronically find and apply for competitive grant opportunities from federal grant-making agencies, and encompasses over 1,000 grant programs offered by the twenty six Federal grant-making agencies. It streamlines the process of awarding some $500 billion annually to state and local governments, academia, not-for-profits, and other organizations.

Thompson Information Services

Committed to improving K-12 education, the Foundation offers funding to education organizations in support of various programs that focus on the areas of math and science. National Science Foundation (NSF)

The NSF supports research and education in fields such as math, computer science, and the social sciences through grants, and contracts to colleges, universities, and other research and/or education institutions in all parts of the United States. NSF funds about 10,000 new awards annually. The foundation accounts for about 20 percent of federal support to academic institutions for basic research.

Technology Donation Programs

CRC Computer Recycling Center

Through its Recycling Computers for Education program, the CRC has been placing refurbished computers in California public schools and nonprofit education programs for the past 15 years. In so doing they’ve been able to keep over 100,000 items out of landfill. CRC also provides community and after-school training.

Computers for Learning

The Computers for Learning program donates surplus federal computer equipment to schools and educational nonprofit organizations, giving special consideration to those with the greatest need. Any public, private, or parochial school serving preK-12 students in the United States or its territories is eligible. (Daycare centers must provide a state-approved preschool curriculum.)

Good360

Each year, thousands of companies contribute hundreds of millions of dollars in newly manufactured products through Good360. To receive product donations and discounts, registration with Good360 , or one of their Community Redistribution Partners, is required.

Hi, I am a 5th grade teacher in NC and coordinate science programs for our newly formed middle school. I am looking for the funding of one or both of the following items. One would be for about $5,000-$10,000 to help build a middle school science lab (we have none and to be honest, we would take any donation). The second is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a science professional development conference in Alaska that will cost approximately $2,000.

Videostories, a technology-enhanced oral history project, gives adolescents with physical and medical challenges a unique and enpowering opportunity to give voice to their feelings by engaging in a dialogue with a family member, friend or mentor.

Our students are all patients receiving intensive rehabilitation therapies. They suffer from acute and/or chronic serious conditions and attend our school only until their rehabilitation goals are achieved. As a result, planning for discharge and transition back to local communities is primary. Our ability to employ oral narrative as a vehicle for self reflection and decision-making is vital.

Currently we record video stories using borrowed cameras. We cannot edit the results. We are seeking an IMAC computer and professional quality videocameras to enhance both the students'experiences and the quality of the CD that they are able to take with them upon discharge.

Hello I work for a non profit preschool. I use to have a computer in my classroom that the children loved. I would teach them to type on the keyboard and work with mouse. They would also be able to play games on the computer now the computer is broken and we can't afford a new one. If anyone knows where I can write a grant to for a computer Please we need your help. Basic Enhancements, Inc. is a non-profit Math, Science, and Technology Program that brings additional instruction to children in under served community schools. This instruction is provided After School and in the form of Summer Camp. Acknowledging the importance of inquiry based programs is our top priority.

This after school program and summer camp gives students hands on experience that encourages a love for Math, Science, and Technology. Our programs are reasonably priced, as well as price reductions for under privileged youth.

This is where we need your support and sponsorship. We are seeking charitable contributions for some of our students. The organization needs 10 laptops to integrate the technology component of our programs. Our students will be entered into a contest that requires the use of various technologies. Any donation toward our goal will be greatly appreciated and publicly recognized.

I teach high school mathematics in a small rural school in Upstate New York. Many of my students are low acheiving students and have no interest in mathematics. I would like to purchase a smartboard to help increase their interest and be successful in mathematics. Our district has little technology and doesn't have the money to expand in technology. Any information you have will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I wish my idea in teaching Math will also be applicable in your school. In the last 5 years of my teaching in the lower level I discovered how to capture the interest and attention of the students in learning any subjects in the curriculum. All subjects would be interesting to teach and to learn if you apply PLAY - DO - ACT. In this case there should be always competition of scores in the class. Mind you, my students would not like to stop the competition even it is already lunch time.
They would not like to make absences for they wanted to accummulate big scores everyday. Always announce the champion of the day, the week, the month. By this method it was 100% all my students can read, write well and could comprehend well.
Re-group your class. Suppose you have 3 groups. Put one leader to each group to be the guide. Now here's the contest in Math.I - Make a model of 1 to 100 on the board.
[1] Contest writing 1 to 100 in vertical position so the semilar figures could be easily recognized. At the start let them follow the model. Then in the next game let them write through memory. Who can finish first will receive 100 scores. Make tally.
For the group and for the individual. In this way you have less stress and the students will enjoy learning everyday. The teacher should prepare many games in all subjects to be played in all sessions. If you want more information about games for easy learning- email me.

Good morning!
I am a media specialist at Cedar Grove ES, an MCPS school in Maryland. I would like any guidance you could give me in reference to a tech instruction grant. We do not have the staffing allocation for a computer skills instructor, and I have faith that somehow I can think "outside the box" to get funds to support a part time staff member. Our students need to keep up with the rest of the world, but our MCPS content curriculum leaves little opportunity for simple computer/tech skills instruction. We integrate technology whenever possible, but because our students lack basic computer skills, the time such a project takes is always double it needs to be. I'm a back to basics kind of instructor -- and especially dislike it when students get frustrated when they should be enjoying the learning process.

Hi,

I am a teacher in Dallas, Texas at a school where 95% of our students come from socio-economically disadvavantged homes.

Our school motto is Sapere Aude, or Dare to Dream! This year, a small group of 9th & 10th grade girls have put together a proposal to visit Cal-State Fullerton, Cal-State Irvine, Chapman University and Laguna Art & Design College.

Our school has no money to pay for this trip and their parents cannot afford it either. We will do fundraisers, but that will likely only help us with about 10% of the cost...any ideas on grants we could apply for that could aid in making this college trip possible for the students?

Hi I am a parent at a San Francisco K-5 public elementary school that is putting in place an energy efficient solution to technology for our students. We are looking for donations of Flat Screen Monitors for our lab so we can make a change that will result in 75% energy savings for our computer lab that currently has an assortment of donated and outdated equipment. I am also looking for funding for a technology position as we are deeply concerned about budget cuts. Any thoughts or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I am the president of the PTO for a K-8 parochial school in Eastern Kentucky. We are trying to upgrade our technology and obtain money for a new computer lab and servers so that they can be linked to a few printers. We probably need about $15,000 to redo the entire system. Any ideas or comments welcome.
