The EarthBox for World Food Day School CampaignResource Type:
Lesson Plans Service Learning Projects Description: Participants in the EarthBox for World Food Day School Campaign act as citizen scientists to observe World Food Day and to alleviate hunger year around. They collect, record and analyze data about food production and water usage in the controlled environment of an EarthBox Container Garden System. Then, they upload their results to a database to compare and contrast yields from around the world. The data will be analyzed to determine the feasibility of fighting hunger and conserving water on a large scale using the EarthBox Container Garden System. The crops are donated to a food pantry, served in the classroom, or given to the cafeteria staff.
