Edutopia Wins Three Maggie Awards
Official magazine of The George Lucas Educational Foundation collects
multiple honors from the prestigious Western Publications Association
New York, NY (May 3, 2006) -- Edutopia, a magazine about progressive education published by The George Lucas Educational Foundation (GLEF), added three Maggie awards to its mantle at the Western Publications Association's annual trade association event. Winners were announced at an awards banquet in Los Angeles in April.
At this year's 55th Annual Maggie Awards, Edutopia won:
- Best Cover/Consumer for the July 2005 issue, "What Works."
- Best Special Interest/Consumer for the October 2005 issue, "The iKid."
- Best Single Editorial Illustration/Consumer for the November 2005 feature "Clowning Around."
Since launching in 2004, Edutopia has already won five Maggies, including last year's awards for Best New Consumer Magazine and Best Consumer Media Kit.
"We are proud to have been singled out from the over 2,000 entries that were received this year," said publisher Kate Rodler. "Education is something that impacts everybody -- from students to parents to businesses. These awards reinforce our goal of bringing the new world of learning to a wider audience."
This year's Maggie competition was flooded with entries from magazines published or distributed solely west of the Mississippi River. The Western Publications Association is a non-profit trade association working to advance the business of print and online magazines in the western United States.
