I just came back from facilitating an elementary school workshop on Critical Skills (Antioch's version of PBL/ SEL) and a question came up that I've often struggled to answer well- or at least with any good examples. How does PBL play out for students who have significant special needs cognitively, socially, or verbally? How do you scaffold the experience for kids on the Autism Spectrum? What about for nonverbal kids? How do we build a community in which all kids are not just tolerated, but included as valuable contributers?
