Discussion Questions
1. How does Davis's use of digital media helps kids "learn how to learn?"
2. What does Davis mean when she talks about empowerment? How can you empower students in school and at home?
3. Do you think it's important for kids to collaborate with the other students across the world? Why, or why not?
4. Davis didn't let her rural location keep her from getting students connected to the world. What sort of challenges would your school community need to make international collaboration an integral part of your curriculum?

Technology in action!
You have pioneered what we all are striving to create in our own schools - a technology enhanced learning environment. You have used technology to the very best advantage for the students, congratulations!
Congratulations Vicki
By describing how you teach with technology, we all can get inspired to try these cutting edge ideas - thanks for inventing Flat Classrooms!

It is so important for students to see us continuing to grow and learn along with them, it definitely encourages the concept of being lifelong learners.

Cellphones are great to use with Spanish/English classes and so are closed captioned tv and you tube vids. For more ideas email me or go to www.edsome.com

I was amazed by the faces of the students. They were empowered, and they had a great ownership. I am still thinking how I am going to use this in my Spanish course. They don't know any Spanish, but I know they can truly teach me something. Thanks for making me reflect on my own practice.
Digital Learning
Hello Ms. Davis,
I enjoyed watching your video and am curious as to how did you manage to get the technology and software for your learning environment. I teach information technology and have found it to be a challenge to get what I need to help my student function in the 21st Century.
I would love to be able to teach my students digitally as well as connect them with other students internationally. What advice or suggestions could you offer me that will help me establish such a learning environment. Who wrote the curriculum for the program you teach and what are the specifics of it?
Finally, I always tell my students that I do not know everything and the life is a learning journey for me as it is for them. I also let them know that I will be learning something from them.

Hello Ms. Davis,
I enjoyed watching your video. I teach technology classes and am trying find ways to make it more interesting to my students. They are very digitally savvy but, I have limited technology to work with. I am wondering how did you get the technology and software for your students to use. What suggestions could you give me to help me develop a digital learning environment for my students. I certain would love to have them engaged in learn as you have done with your students--especially on an international basis.
Also, I always let my students know that I do not know it all and that I am still learning because life is a learning journey.

Web 2.0 teaching & Learning
I love this video! I just watched it (twice) and sent the link to my boss. We are doing a similar, but not as advanced, project and the results have been incredible. If you are interested in our pilot project, please read "The Portland Project" on www.edsome.com
Thank you for this wonderful, motivational video!
I really enjoyed watching how
I really enjoyed watching how the students in your class are interacting, and enjoying what they are doing. At the place where I work, I wish we can all adopt your perspective about learning technology along with your students. But the idea of teacher "know it all" is still dominant and very difficult to change specially in the Middle East.
How does it work with Language Arts?
I'm amazed at how all students are engaged in the different tasks, but how can we apply a similar approach when we are teaching reading and writing for example to non-native speakers of the language? Could you please direct me to one example? Maybe by using the idea of empowerment, we can ask the students how they can use any digital tool to serve the purpose.
