Keep These Coming

These are terrific little tools snapshots. I'd love to see more, with contributions from parents and kids and from professionals in fields we imagine our students working in one day.

I can't seem to get enough of the teachers sharing via video. The WIKI suggestions are so handy because I'm just starting one. It's nice to finally have some solid suggestions from a teacher with a wiki-centered room. My school is 100% text book driven. It's an alternative school. I can't wait to share with the teachers in my building about how Louise uses books when the server goes down. COOL!

I have an Alt. Cert., and no one will call me for an interview

Help! I know that teaching is the profession I was meant to do! I have a double Bachelor's of Fine Art, an Alternative Certification, and taken and passed my TExES cert. for EC-12 Art Content test. I have also taught on a volunteer and contract basis to various public and private schools for the last three years. Still, I can't get a principle to call me back and even get an interview with them. What the heck am I doing wrong?! I know I am a great teacher, but can't even get face time.

Does any teachers out there have any suggestions for me??

Thank you any one who has any suggestions, as I am really quite discouraged that I don't seem to be making head way here in Dallas, TX.!

it's hard to get a teaching job with an alternative certification. You need to make yourself known and seen at the school you want to teach at. You can do this by going to job fairs and by substituting. If a principal sees how great you are they are more likely to give you a chance.
