Sounds great doesn't it? Here's the truth: VMRC has written criteria in a 53 page document called the Program Procedures and Guidelines (PPG). This document used to be called the 4-way agreement. Among other things, for a child to be allowed to remain in the program, he or she must maintain an 80% acquisition rate or they will be exited aka "transitioned" from the program. How would you feel if your child would be expelled from school if they didn't maintain an 80% grade on everything? A child must also be able to speak at least 20 words. There are brilliant minds that are unable to speak. Why can't all children with autism receive ABA rather than the "cream of the crop" kids VMRC wants to serve?
