Portfolios are the best assessment tool around

Great article on the potential of developing a student's portfolio. If structured properly, the portfolio can be an excellent tool to document a student's progress over time, as well as a wide array of talents and abilities. It is a much better indicator of a student's performance than the standardized paper and pencil tests teachers so often are forced to administer.
