Reinventing the Big Test: The Challenge of Authentic Assessment

It grieves me that so much faith is placed in machine-scored tests, and so little in the opinions of educated professionals with myriad hours of direct contact and interaction with learners.
Even more-sophisticated and reliable assessments would be possible if stable groups of students were taught by teams.
