I enjoyed reading your blog about "urgency in classroom." I will be very honest; there are days where the urgency is not there. This was not true most of the time in the previous district I taught in, where state and federal testing didn't matter too much as our scores were consistently high. Now I am in a district where the scores are lower and the focus is on test prep. I feel at a loss some times and do feel like the only urgency I have is teaching the curriculum before testing begins. This also connects to your comments about time being so precious to teachers. I absolutely agree. However, going back to testing, the powers to be seem take that time away by testing 2 months before school ends. What are your thoughts?
