It is so inspiring to hear educators making space for kids to be fully present and learning engaging the spectrum of brains, spirit, heart, and emotions.
This video also reminds me of the incredible work that Rachel Kessler has dedicated her own life to nourishing the inner lives of kids. She now has several whole school projects that are finding similar successes. You will find her book, The Soul of Education, to be another great resource if the stories here touch your heart.
I am going to be contributing my own work of digital storytelling to Rachel's project this spring. We will be coaching teachers and students in crafting their own narrative digital storytelling unfolding a story that needs to be told. These collection of narrative, multi-media stories will incorporate a range of personal perspectives of how making room for EQ and giving space to student voices has touched or made a difference in their lives along with a lesson learned. Sign up at DigiTales.us website for notification when these stories are completed or just check in from time to time.
Thank you GLEF for documenting this story and as always holding hope for all of us that real and meaningful classrooms are still possible for kids in the present political climate. Thank you - thank you Anchorage teachers and students for the amazing committment you have made to incorporating meaningful heartful experiences for everyone. LOVE the chorus Change of Heart!
